Using Yoga Exercise For Fitness And For Losing Weight

When most people think about losing weight, they think of diet pills, diet plans and exercise.  These things will help you to lose weight, but there is another way to help you get fit and lose weight. 

Weight loss is pretty simple when you think about it.  If you burn more calories than you take in, you will lose weight.  You can reduce the calories you eat, by dieting or cutting back on your food intake.  You can increase the calories that you use by getting additional exercise.

When most people think of yoga, they think of improved flexibility or some mystic spiritual awakening.  But yoga exercise is so much more.  Just a few minutes a day will help your body reduce stress.  If your stress level is lowered, you tend to have fewer illnesses and you recover from them quickly.  Stress is also a major culprit in weight gain through overeating and binge eating.  So using yoga exercise to reduce stress will have a major impact in the success of your long term diet plan.

Another benefit of yoga fitness is that yoga breathing exercises will also increase the oxygen level in your blood stream.  The increased oxygen supply will help burn calories more quickly and completely.  The yoga breathing exercises will also improve your general well being by improving your sense of self and helping you get in touch with your spiritual side.  A person that feels good about their self is less likely to sabotage their diet.

Yoga fitness exercises will also help strengthen your muscles.  When you try to obtain and hold the perfect yoga pose, your muscles will get a good work out.  Yoga can be as easy or as strenuous as you need it to be.  You can speed up the exercise routine and get a good cardiovascular workout, or you can go slow and maintain the yoga poses for long periods of time which really gives your muscles a workout. 

So the next time you want to lose weight, just remember, you’ve got to burn more calories than you take in.  Diet and exercise are proven to work at losing weight.  And the next time you think of exercise for losing weight, think yoga.  It is better for weight loss and building muscle than most people realize.  In fact, yoga may be the best fitness exercise available.
