Yoga Exercise Is Good For Your Heart

Yoga is a great exercise program.  It provides flexibility and improves your posture, but it is also a great exercise for your heart.

One of the great things about yoga is that it relieves your stress levels, and by reducing the amount of stress in your life, it is great for your heart.  Mankind has evolved with a fight or flight syndrome, and in today’s stressful environment, you can’t run and you can’t fight, so your stress levels increase to the breaking point.

This is where yoga can be so helpful, after a long hard day at work and a horrible commute, you can do some simple yoga breathing exercises and yoga stretching exercises and your mind is cleared from the stress that is poisoning your system.  Your blood pressure goes down and your heart doesn’t have to work so hard.

And the effects of yoga exercise aren’t just while you perform the breathing and stretching exercises, it carries over into the next day.  The stressful situations are not as severe as they were before starting the yoga program.  Scientists have found that people who use yoga exercise have lower blood pressure and fewer heart related problems than those that don’t use yoga exercise.

You don’t have to use a long exercise program either, just a few minutes, can make a tremendous difference.  Obviously, if you could dedicate a long period everyday to yoga exercise it would make a huge difference, but most people have a hard time putting in 15 to 30 minutes getting any kind of exercise.

Well, you can fit yoga in almost anytime and almost anywhere, even sitting at your desk at work.  Sure, you can’t assume a lot of the different poses at work, but you can perform some of the simple breathing exercises, and these will have a tremendous impact on your blood pressure and your heart health.

You’ll be surprised at how many quick breathing exercises you can work into an average day on the job sitting at your desk.  And you long term heart health will benefit from it.
